Thinking Anglers OGX Copolymer Mainline 1000m

OGX is a copolymer carp mainline built to hold its performance through long spells on the reel. The formula pairs knot strength with abrasion resistance, and the surface treatment gets it through the surface film and down to the lakebed cleanly.

It has a steely feel to it, which is what relays information back up the rod when the lead touches down. Natural grey, on 1000m bulk spools with removable line markers at 330m and 660m.

Which breaking strain?

• 12lb (0.33mm) – the thinnest of the four. Open, clean water where range matters.
• 15lb (0.35mm) – the general-purpose choice, and the one to start on if you are unsure.
• 18lb (0.37mm) – extra margin over gravel bars and through light weed.
• 20lb (0.40mm) – the heaviest, for snaggy, weedy and heavily featured venues.

Loading it

Watch for twist as it goes on and ease the tension between tip and spool now and again. If the line starts to curl, turn the bulk spool label-down until the twist works out, then turn it back. Persistent twist means loading instead from a spool left to spin freely in lukewarm water. A long pre-soak is only worth it if you are filling reels right to the lip for extreme range.
