Okuma Azaki 40 Spinning Reel with Braid

The Azaki 40 comes pre-spooled with braid, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to load before the first cast. That makes it an easy second reel to keep made up, and an easy first reel for someone starting out.

Underneath the two-tone finish it is a plain, well-sorted fixed spool: a graphite body that shrugs off damp, a machined aluminium spool, and a multi-disc drag running on Japanese oiled felt washers so the pressure comes on progressively rather than in steps. The Cyclonic Flow Rotor moves air through the housing to dry the internals after a wet session.

The 40 takes 260m of 0.25mm, which is more line than most freshwater work needs, and the 8kg drag has enough in reserve for perch, chub, trout and small pike.
