Korda Wide Gape Barbless Carp Hooks

This is the barbless Wide Gape, and it is not simply the barbed hook with the barb left off. Every Wide Gape B is made from X gauge Japanese steel, so what you are buying is effectively a barbless Wide Gape X – the heavier wire that the barbed range only offers as a separate X version.

The shape is the classic Wide Gape: slightly in-turned eye, short shank, heavily forged bend and a very sharp beaked point, suited to pop-ups and bottom baits alike. On barbless-only waters that stepped-up wire is the reassurance you want, because a barbless hook has to hold on shape and sharpness alone.

Which size?

• Size 4 – the larger of the two, for bigger baits and heavier going.
• Size 6 – the general-purpose size, and the one to take if you are only carrying one.
