Drennan Red Range Float Fish Rod

A well-balanced float rod for waggler fishing on rivers, stillwaters and commercial fisheries, and a good trotting rod when the river is on.

The progressive carbon blank has a light, responsive playing action that is forgiving enough for a net of silvers on fine hooklengths, with enough in reserve to land the bigger bonus fish that turn up on commercials. Reel lines of 3lb to 6lb suit it.

Which length?

• 12ft (3.66m) – two-piece, so it goes to the peg made up in a rod sleeve or hard case. Wagglers on stillwaters, and top-and-bottom floats when trotting.
• 13ft (3.96m) – three-piece. The extra length improves float control and line pick-up, which is what makes it the one for stick float work on rivers.
