Daiwa Black Widow + 12ft Carp Rod

Black Widow + is the lightest carp rod Daiwa have built, and the weight saving shows up in two places – how far it casts, and how it behaves once a fish is on. The action is progressive, so it loads through the blank rather than stopping dead, which is forgiving on a hook hold at close range and still has the backbone to reach distance.

Lightweight skeletal guides keep mass off the blank and lift tip speed, and the guide positioning at the end of the tip is set to keep line clear through the cast. The blank is matt finished with subtle red strands hidden in the thread wrapping.

Which one?

• 12ft 3lb – designed for small to mid-size waters and for anyone who prefers a slightly softer rod. 310g, rated to 4oz.
• 12ft 4lb – the casting rod of the three, for fishing at distance or putting out solid bags. 360g, rated to 5oz.
• 12ft 4.5lb Spod/Marker – 375g and rated to 12oz, with 12in and 24in markers on the blank for measuring line off accurately.
