Daiwa 23 Super Spod 45 SCW Spod Reel

The Super Spod replaces the Emblem Spod and the headline change is the spool. Going to a 45mm long cast spool adds 10 to 15 metres to the cast over the old spool shape, which is the difference between reaching a spot and settling for one nearer in.

Ball bearings are up from four to six, so the reel runs noticeably smoother, and the change of body and rotor material takes 70g off the old Emblem Spod's 690g. Spodding is repetitive by nature, and both of those are felt over a session rather than over a cast.

Line comes back at 118cm per turn, so a spod is retrieved from range in few turns. The one-touch handle folds flat when the reel goes in the bag.
