VMC Ned Rig Jig Chartreuse (4 Pack)

A Ned rig head is a simple thing done properly: a flat-faced lead head on a wide gape hook that stands a stubby soft plastic up off the bottom at an angle, where a fish sees it as something grubbing about rather than swimming past.

What makes this one worth buying over a generic jig head is the keeper. VMC use a bevelled conical screw rather than a plain barb, and they have set the gap between keeper and head so the plastic collapses tight into that space. The result is that a bait stays put through repeated hook sets instead of sliding down the shank after the first fish.

Chartreuse with a silver glitter fleck – the colour to pick when the water has some stain in it, or when you want the head to read as a separate attractor rather than disappear under the plastic.

Which weight?

• 3.5g – shallow water, a slow fall, and light lines. The finesse end of it.
• 7g – deeper swims, a bit of tow, or wind. Gets down and stays in touch.
