Trakker Sniper Bankstick

The Sniper is Trakker's budget bankstick and it is built better than the price suggests: half-inch aluminium tube, a solid aluminium ground spike rather than a pressed one, and brass fittings on the thumbscrew so the collar keeps its grip after a season of grit and rain.

Each stick telescopes through the range quoted in its name, so one pair covers a lot of ground before you need a different length.

Which length?

• 9-16 inch – extends 22cm to 38cm, 78g. Low-profile fishing, firm banks, and margin work where the rods sit close to the deck.
• 18-34 inch – extends 45cm to 83cm, 155g. The one to reach for on soft ground, sloping banks or when the rod tips need lifting clear of marginal growth.
