Fortis Bays Polarised Sunglasses

The Bays are the sports frame in the Fortis range – a wide, square wrap with a big lens that covers plenty of face without the bulk. Spring-loaded hinges let the arms flex out to wider heads, so they stop pinching behind the ears after a few hours, and rubber tips keep them from creeping.

The wrap angle is what does the work on the water: it cuts the light coming in past the sides of the frame, so there is less to wash out the view when you are scanning the margins. XBlok is the mirror coating on the front of the lens, taking a further slice of glare out on top of the polarisation.

Which lens?

• Brown – contrast and definition with no mirror coating, for bright spells through to light cloud. Transparent black frame, and the one to start with.
• Amber / Silver XBlok – amber lifts contrast when the light goes flat, so it suits overcast days and shaded swims. Transparent black frame.
• Green – natural, balanced colour for general daylight, no mirror. On a transparent green frame.
• Switch – photochromic. Clearer in shade, darker as UV rises, so one pair covers a full day of changing light. Transparent brown frame.
• Rose / Purple XBlok – rose lifts depth perception and fine contrast in the in-between light levels. Transparent black frame.
