Korda Shot on the Hook 0.40g

Shot on the Hook is a pure tungsten shot that clips onto the hook itself, adding weight right at the business end. That heavier point is what gets the hook to grab hold quickly on a wafter, bottom bait or snowman rig, and it turns pick-ups into bites that would otherwise have been dropped.

Tungsten is dense enough that the shot stays small for the weight it carries, so it does not unbalance the presentation. A small rubber moulding sits over the hook point and holds the shot in place. To take it off a barbless hook you just slide it; on a barbed hook, crush the barb first.

This is the 0.40g. Danny Fairbrass recommends it for baits of around 16 to 18mm on hook sizes 6, 4 and 2. Go to 0.30g for baits up to 14mm on sizes 8, 6 and 4, and 0.50g for 20 to 24mm baits on larger hooks – the lighter the bait, the less force a carp uses to take it in, so a lighter shot gives it more chance of getting inside the mouth.
