Drennan Acolyte Fluorocarbon Hooklength Line

Acolyte is 100% pure fluorocarbon, made from a material that comes out thinner, softer and stronger than most fluorocarbons. Its refractive index sits very close to that of water, so it gives away very little once it is below the surface — the whole reason to fish fluorocarbon on the hooklength in the first place.

Five-time World Champion Alan Scotthorne and specimen angler Daniel Woolcott both fish it. Spools are 50m.

Which breaking strain?

• 3lb – 0.14mm (1.36kg). The finest we stock. Roach, skimmers and silvers, and anywhere the fish are looking at the bait for a long time.
• 4lb – 0.16mm (1.81kg). A sensible all-round hooklength for commercial carp on the float, and where to start if you are undecided.
• 6lb – 0.19mm (2.72kg). Better carp on the feeder or on pellet, with a bit more in hand.
• 8lb – 0.23mm (3.63kg). The heaviest of the four, for margin work and bigger fish in and around cover.
