Guru Skimmer Hollow Carbon Pole Float

The Skimmer is a natural-venue pattern from the Guru Natural range, and this is the hollow-bristle version. A hollow tip carries more than a fine glass one, so it takes a pellet, a grain of corn or a worm without burying, and it stays visible in flat winter light when a dotted-down tip disappears.

The bodies are balsa rather than foam. Balsa is denser, so the body can be made smaller for the same job – less resistance to a taking fish, and more stability when the water is rough. Over the top goes the Elastilex finish, a thin elastic wrap that stops line cutting into the body and keeps water out.

Which size?

• 1g – fitted with the 1.5mm bristle. The everyday size for canals and stillwaters at normal depths.
• 3g – fitted with the thicker 1.7mm bristle, for deeper water, tow and bigger baits.
