Clones exist for the moment when the feed going in is hemp, corn and particle, and nothing in it is firm enough or big enough to put on a hook. They match the hatch, with more flavour and attraction than the free offerings and enough durability to survive a cast and a wait.

Maple is the sweet, dark option of the four, and it sits naturally alongside a spod mix or a bed of particle.

Which one?

• Pop-Ups – 13mm – round and floating, for lifting the hookbait clear of the particle bed or holding a rig above light weed.
• Wafters – 10 x 14mm – a dumbell that the hook balances, so it behaves like a single grain sitting in the feed.
