Drennan Acolyte Maggot Plus Micro Barbed Hooks to Nylon

Maggot Plus is the classic all-round maggot hook, and this is the micro barbed version tied to 30cm of Acolyte fluorocarbon. It handles casters and short sections of worm just as well, on small to medium fish.

The micro barb holds a bait in place through the cast without tearing it, which is the reason most anglers pick it over the barbless on a feeder rod.

Which size?

• 14 – 4lb (0.16mm). The strongest here, for worm or a bunch of maggots.
• 16 – 3lb (0.14mm). The middle size and a sensible default.
• 18 – 2lb 8oz (0.12mm). Single maggot or caster for smaller fish.
