Thinking Anglers Beaked Chod Hooks - Barbed

The Beaked Chod started life as the Curve Point. Thinking Anglers opened the eye out to 15 degrees and stepped the wire up a gauge, which turns it into a hook that copes with fluorocarbon and stiff hooklink materials rather than fighting them.

That out-turned eye holds the hooklink and the point in line without closing down the gape, so a Multi-Rig, a D-rig or a plain bottom bait sits at the angle you tied it at. The point is long, beaked and tapered, and the PTFE coating is there to cut the resistance as it beds in.

Which size?

• Size 4 – The largest in the range. Big bottom baits, and the extra wire earns its keep in snaggy water.
• Size 5 – One of the two intermediary sizes. For when a 4 swamps the bait and a 6 looks light.
• Size 6 – The middle of the range, and the sensible place to start with the pattern.
• Size 7 – The other half step, for scaling down without giving up much wire.
• Size 8 – The smallest here. Smaller hookbaits and clear water, where a big hook stands out.
